Unusable

Vanilla only with two players. It's great that you have 6 GB of RAM, but it's unusable since you're stuck on Vanilla with the base settings.

Hands On Review

Scalacube is kind of a mixed bag. The server performance is solid, but there are some dealbreakers for most people.

First off, they claim that free servers are only available in Europe, specifically Germany. But the server we got for testing was actually in the US. So either their info is outdated, or things have changed.

That said, the free server itself is pretty generous, 6GB of RAM and 30GB of storage. And the performance? Surprisingly powerful. During testing, even while flying around with an elytra, we never ran into chunk loading issues. Scalacube’s free servers really do perform extremely well.

However, the same can’t be said for features and limitations. It’s easier to list what you do get rather than what you don’t. On the free plan, you only have access to the server console and power options. That’s it. No file access, no databases, no backups, and no extras.

And to make things worse, Scalacube free servers are limited to just 2 player slots, and you can’t change that.

So, are Scalacube’s free servers good? Honestly, it depends. If you just want to play with one close friend and don’t care about file access or extra features, then yes, they give you a solid, lag free server. But if you’re looking for anything beyond that, Scalacube isn’t the right choice.
